May 4, 2014, Smithfield, RI – Computer Associates, Inc., developers of the JMAS jewelry ERP Software for jewelry manufacturers and distributors today announced that AU Enterprises, a provider of jewelry manufacturing recently installed Computer Associates’ (CAI) JMAS Jewelry ERP Software to improve visibility and control of their manufacturing processes.
AU Enterprises provides a suite of a la carte, start-to-finish jewelry manufacturing services to business trade customers. The company services customers ranging from small, independent retailers to international, multibillion-dollar corporations whose names are synonymous with luxury and quality in the jewelry industry.
Founded in 1987, by CEO Linus Drogs, AU Enterprises’ expertise spans the entire continuum of precious and non-precious metal manufacturing—from one-of-a-kind items to thousand-piece runs, and from simple injection molding to the most complex projects. Today, the business is still built around the 3 C’s: Casting, CAD and CAM. Mr. Drogs also served as a technical and manufacturing consultant for Palladium Alliance International, created in March 2006 to provide education, marketing, technical support and public relations to promote palladium.
AU Enterprises’ staff consists of professionally trained technicians and jewelry craftsman with years of experience in the field and all materials used at Au Enterprises are eco-friendly and conflict-free. The company offers a comprehensive suite of manufacturing services—from rendering to shipping—as well as wide array of options in gold, platinum, palladium, silver, stainless steel, bronze and aluminum. In addition, by investing in state-of-the-art technology, AU Enterprises has expanded into new industries, offering direct precious metal machining, hand and laser engraving, and precision prototyping services for small part manufacturers.
JMAS Jewelry ERP Software Supports AU Enterprises’ Expanding Services
With the continued success of its jewelry manufacturing services business and the expansion into new areas, AU Enterprises realized that the company’s legacy business software no longer support their changing mix of services and associated requirements. Lynn Drogs, co-owner and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of AU Enterprises said, “Given these limitations, we decided in July 2013 to purchase the JMAS ERP software and we knew we wanted to adapt the software to the way we work and to make the transition to the new system as swiftly and painlessly as possible.”
The JMAS Jewelry ERP Software is an end-to-end business management solution for jewelry manufacturers. The software includes an integrated set of tools that enables companies to generate production orders directly from a sales order, implement standard routing and job tracking throughout the production process, create detailed bill of materials that roll-up the various services for each job into a single item, issue materials as needed and accurately affect inventory, and calculate actual labor hours associated with the job.
“We are extremely pleased with the software. It has allowed us to operate with much more visibility and control of our manufacturing processes. We can easily capture the actual number of hours and associated labor charges and then update the sales order with this data rather than the initial, estimated hours we assigned to the job. Also, because JMAS is fully integrated throughout our entire operations, we’ve significantly simplified our sales order processing, metals inventory control, AR and AP as well as how we generate financial statements. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend JMAS—and the team at CAI—to any manufacturing services company looking to improve their business.”
Expedite Software Implementation and Training to Control Costs
To expedite and control the costs associated with software training Lynn and Linus visited Computer Associates’ facility in September. “We felt that if we held the training at our office that the inevitable distractions would not let us give it the undivided attention we wanted,” Lynn said. After two days of intensive instruction, including how to set-up customer and vendor master files and move their data from their legacy system, AU Enterprises went live with JMAS ERP Software in November.
Joe Chabot, Sr. Project Manager for CAI said, “The pace at which the project proceeded was amazing.” We had set aside the typical amount of time to implement the software and train AU enterprises staff, and ended up using only a fraction of those hours. With Lynn’s background as a CPA and her experience with implementing financial systems at other companies she had worked for in the past, we were able to turn the system live with minimal hand holding from our staff.”
